Advanced Hair Restoration

Short version: it worked great, I have a full head of hair again!

Long version: I went here last year when my genetic male pattern baldness got to be too much. The idea is pretty simple - they take hair follicles from the areas of your scalp where the hair is growing great (usually in back and/or sides) and put them where you want them growing but they aren't, like forehead and crown. You want individual follicles like this because moving large strips/plugs can be pretty obvious.

I had a fairly large transplant, so the procedure was about six hours total from checkin and checkout. In the morning they remove follicles and carefully lay them and chill them to keep them alive. In the afternoon, Dr. Adair lays out where he thinks they should go after asking you what you want it to look like. Then they put the individual follicles where they should go - this is a painstaking process because they're carefully inserting hundred or thousands of individual follicles, but the team is great and none of this hurts. You aren't under, but the topical and oral painkillers worked great.

Then you go home with some medicated shampoo and directions on what to do next. It does take a little while to heal, so they give you a loose cap to conceal the redness. The transplanted hairs start growing as soon as they 'wake up'. Of course they only grow as fast as hair normally grows, so it can take a few months to get full results, but eventually it looks perfect because it really is your own hair. There is no sign whatsoever that I ever had male pattern baldness, it's all full and lush. For my vanity, it was totally worth it!
